Why do we do this?

Why do we do this? We at BB2C start every staff meeting with this question to remind ourselves why we have taken on this work. Last week’s answer revolved around the Sewing with Kindness event that Ann, one of our content experts in the Makerspace, coordinated. Not only did the event garner food and bags for the Gospel Mission Food Pantry, it also gave a high school student the opportunity to grow herself and step outside of her comfort zone. Ahni Georgerian is earning her required volunteer hours with us at the Epicenter, and covering the maker meet-up for sewing was one of her first tasks. Providing space and time to grow and gain experience is what we do, and the more people we can involve in each of the opportunities that we provide, the better. Pamela helps entrepreneurs grow their small business, Brad helps community individuals and area students grow their hands-on skills, Tonya, Suzy, and Barb help our youth develop into productive citizens, and Tasha helps our schools and teachers grow their connections with the community and local businesses. As a whole, we are doing this work to grow a prosperous community.

Another reason we do this work is to make connections. One never knows which connection will be the one that makes a difference in someone’s life, so we just have to keep making connections with the faith that one of them will do the trick.
