Mock Interviews Give Students a Professional Edge

BB2C is always happy to help with endeavors that connect students and the community in ways that benefit students beyond high school, whether through business tours, Discover Days, or mock interviews.

This month, the Washington County Career Center conducted mock interviews for its students. They invited representatives from local businesses to create simulated job interviews. The goal behind these interviews was to give their students an experience of what it is like to interview for a professional career. BB2C staff often have the opportunity to assist with mock interviews organized by local schools, and enjoy doing so. Usually, they do not focus on a single job field; the Washington County Career Center mock interviews, however, were specifically for students interested in pursuing careers in the medical field.

It was split between students who had been part of interviews before and those who had not. Martha Troulliet, a senior, said, “I have done a few interviews for jobs, and I actually really enjoy them. It is a nice conversation between two people if you get a good interviewer.” On the other hand, Bailey Oliver was having her first interview experience. “I have never done an interview before. I hope they ask me questions about my schooling and how I challenge myself by taking classes at the Career Center.”

These mock interviews are also an excellent way for local businesses to meet students who are ready to start a career. It allows them to identify potential future employees and build connections with them before they enter the workforce.
